Srisailam Srisailam Tourist Place in Andhra Pradesh

Srisailam in the Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh features mountains with luxuriant forest covers. Its history is related to Gods and Goddesses. This makes it a sacred place.

Apart from being an animal sanctuary, the place is basically suited for pilgrimage. Srisailam offers the places to visit in this town and the major and minor tourist attractions.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
The plush jungle homes to wild animals like, pangolins, panthers, chinkara, blackbuck, deer, leopards, porcupines, crocodiles, and many other species of birds and animals.

The largest tiger reserve is located here.
he Krishna River flowing through the Nallamalai Hills creates amazing gorges and ridges. The mountainous terrain offers breathtaking views.
You can visit the Saivaite Temples – the temples of Brahmaramba, Mallikarjunaswamy, Uma-Maheshwara and Saraswati.

Srisailam Tourist Place - Figures of deities and wildlife are depicted on the temple walls. You can also observe the exquisite sculptures and other structures in and around the temples.
You can see scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata carved on the stone walls of the great Mahakali Temple.

The next important and notable things to be seen here are the Srisailam Sanctuary and the dam, from where you will get stunning natural views.

Do not forget to check out the Sikhareswara Swamy which is the highest hill in Srisailam.
There are other places too nearby Srisailam which are worth visiting. Some of them are Papanasam, Sangameswar, Alampur, Dindi Resrvoir, Kurnool and Nagarjunsagar.
All of these places have a charm and appeal of their own. There you will find many other forest reserves, sanctuaries, dams, monuments and temples.

HOW TO REACH
The nearest airport and the closest main railway junction is that of Hyderabad. You can also reach Markapur by train and take a taxi, a rented car or bus till Srisailam.
The local bus service is available everyday. Cycle rickshaws and autos are also available in Srisailam. The best time to visit this place is between September and February.
